Humorous and Heartwarming Author Firsts

I hope you and your family are all safe and well. Tropical storm Isaias flattened parts of NJ, and we limped through five days without power. All our perishables had to be tossed but our generous insurance company covered “food spoilage” (check your policy if you’ve had similar issues).

The theme of this newsletter is “firsts,” so please share any new experiences you’ve encountered! Here are some of mine…

The pre-publication copies of Goodbye, Orchid arrived and I couldn’t stop smiling over my excitement to see them. Check out this “unboxing” video if you’d like to witness my determination to ninja fight through shipping tape : YT

Then, I sent a book to my first reader for reviews. “Would you like it autographed?” “Yes, please,” she responded. I opened the pristine book cover of my Advanced Reader Copy. Which page should I use? Where should I sign that doesn’t interfere with the beautiful graphics design? What can I say that will enhance her reading experience?

Finally, I realized that it was best to simply speak from the heart. Thanks for your support. I hope you love Phoenix and Orchid’s story as much as I have.

The last few weeks have brought more firsts: an author panel for local TV, the first award for Goodbye, Orchid (thank you, American Fiction Awards!), exceeding kickstarter goals (thank you…two weeks to go https://bit.ly/KickstarterGO) and setting up launch events.

Please come to these virtual celebrations🥂 and I’d love to join your book clubs too:
●Wednesday September 9th, 9pm ET Zoom party sponsored by Main Street Reads (following 8-9pm Mendham TV premiere)
●Wednesday September 16th 7-8pm ET Zoom call sponsored by Mendham Borough and Roxbury Libraries: bit.ly/Sept16GO
●Wednesday October 14th 12pm ET PUBLISH THIS! Over Lunch interview with David Legere: Lunch

I appreciate all your kind congrats and support. Just six weeks until launch, and EVERY pre-order is appreciated so please share!
❤️ bit.ly/AMZNGO

Then, for our last first…at home, one teen had all four wisdom teeth removed. His twin goes for the same procedure in the coming week. I’m accepting all well-wishes and tubs of ice cream!

Happy reading,
